5 Big Books to Read

Aren’t we all guilty of not keeping the promises we make to ourselves? Don’t we say, “I will do it this year!” and fail to follow through? This year even my procrastination is tired of my procrastination. Therefore, I will be reading some of the Book Giants that I have been pushing for years. Yes! I have thought this through and made a practical selection of 5 Big Books from across genres. Fiction, non-fiction, romance, classic, and wacky are all on my list. If these are the books on your unread pile as well, then join me! LET’S READ and check them off the forever reading list.

Presenting to you the BIG 5

Drum rolls, please!!!

1. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

I got this beautiful novel from a small bookstore in Cardiff, 2018. It was love at first sight. Since then, I have fantasized about reading this book but haven’t. Anna Karenina is not a stranger amongst the readers, it is one of the greatest novels ever written. It has also gained success as a movie. I haven’t watched that either. I have successfully kept myself oblivious to the plot. I will be exploring it the way Leo Tolstoy intended for his readers.

2. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

Finally, a publisher who gave this classic novel the look it deserves – Fingerprint Publishers. This is another classical fiction, that made history with its refreshing take on romance and power in women’s lives. Also has been populated as a movie. The storyline and the essence of the plot seem to have received a mixed review. Will I love this book or hate this book? Only one way to find out. READING.

3. The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers

I love this book even before having read it! Here are my reasons. First, the title takes my heart away. Man! A city of dreaming books? Really! Which book lover wouldn’t want to explore that. Second, Walter Moers books are hard to find, and this one was a gift from my brother. He managed to find a copy and surprise me on one of my birthdays. Third, this book was recommended to me by one of my friends. Her book recommendations have always been on point. Fourth, I have read the 13½ Lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers, and without a doubt, I am a fan.

Well, I can go on counting! And the reasons will never end until I read the book.

4. The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir

If you didn’t know, you should learn that this book is the reason for feminism moments to surface, among others. I was acquainted with this work of non-fiction during my time as a master’s student. My colleague, a PhD student at that time, recommended this book to me. For reasons unknown - I have neglected to dedicate time to read this book but no more. I can feel the tingling sensations running up my spine and excitement like none, only by the thought of reading this book.

5. War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

For many readers, the size of this book can be daunting and pleasurable at the same time. Are you familiar with this feeling? Let me know in the comments. To avoid aching arms, I am planning to read this book on a Kindle. However, I might change my mind as my love for physical books soar. I am hoping for this book to stir war and peace within soon.

With a book in our hands let's read new chapters of life, one page at a time.

XOXO
